The Heart Attack that isn't

I must be having a heart attack!

I had read all the articles about women and heart disease. Was I in denial? I had such tightening around my chest. I could hardly pick up something from the floor without being out of breath. The fatigue was sometimes overwhelming. My husband insisted I go the doctor again. But I have been in the hospital three times! I have had the stress tests even the catherization. The doctors said my heart was fine. There is some blockage my husband said. I went to the hospital again. This time the stress test made me violently ill. I hated that I was wasting time and money. I wanted to be teaching my writing classes. I did not want to be in a hospital bed. I came home and went on the Internet, and there it was. A hiatal hernia is called a mimic condition because it mimics a heart attack. I knew I had an extremely large hiatal hernia. I had never associated it with those symptoms. I had Gerds and took Prevacid. I slept in a bed in which the headboard set on bricks to keep my head high. But there it was. I had all the symptoms of a hiatal hernia. I sought out a specialist. Why didn't any doctor realize what was happening to me when they all knew I had this large hiatal hernia? he shook his head. He didn't why none of them had recognized it. I will have an endoscope Tuesday and when this semester is over I will have the surgery which is supposed to help with these symptoms. It is something done with a Nissen device. I need to find out more before May but currently I am still recovering from being scared to death ,one more time, that I was going to die of a heart attack.
